Chinatown Youth Initiatives is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors comprised of Asian Americans from various disciplines and backgrounds who are all committed to serving, educating, and developing youth leaders to serve Chinatown and wider communities. Individuals who sit on the board oversee the organization's activities and are responsible for developing the organization's strategic plan as well as maintaining financial accountability.

Winnie (she/her), CYI's Board Chair, joined CYI in 2006 as a high school volunteer with Chinatown Literacy Project (CLP) before holding leadership positions with CLP and Chinatown Beautification Day (CBD). Her experience with CYI inspired her to pursue a career in public service and education, notably for the Pre-K for All initiative at NYC's Department of Education. She's currently a program manager at a family foundation and lives in Brooklyn with many plants. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Yale University. She us also a member of the Finance Committee.

Winnie (she/her) joined CYI in 2006 as a language partner with the Chinatown Literacy Project and then continued as a co-coordinator for Chinatown Literacy Project and Chinatown Beautification Day. She currently lives in Brooklyn and is working at the at the Department of Education of NYC to expand early childhood seats for the Pre-K For All and 3-K For All initiatives. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Yale University. Winnie is also a member of the Finance Committee.
Audrey Pan

Audrey is currently a 3L at CUNY Law pursuing a career in public defense. She is excited to be joining the Bronx Defender's Criminal Defense Practice in 2024. Prior to law school, she worked as a community organizer at two different Asian American civil rights organizations where she focused on advocacy, policy initiatives, and youth development. Born and raised in NYC, she has a deep connection with NYC's Chinatown and is currently on the Executive Committee at CYI. In her free time, she can be found reading, cooking, and taking long walks.

Brian is a first-gen college graduate and has been involved with CYI's Summer Leadership Institute for two years. He is passionate about youth empowerment and exploring the place of Asian Americans both domestically and abroad. Brian also helps organize the Taiwan-America Student Conference (TASC). Brian holds a bachelor's degree in Statistics from the University of Rochester. He is particularly interested in the digitalization of health and the use of quantitative methods to solve problems in science and medicine. In his free time he likes to play basketball, read books, and learn different languages.

Karen (she/her) is a Brooklyn native that first became involved with CYI as a facilitator for Summer Leadership Institute in 2019. Coming back to CYI, she hopes to continue to serve and advocate for the Asian diaspora in the city. A recent graduate from Bryn Mawr College with a B.A. in Biochemistry, she is currently based in Boston, MA where she works on blood platelet research. In her free time, Karen likes to try new restaurants and bike along the river.

Angela is currently a consultant at Bain & Company, residing in NYC. Through CYI, she hopes to help youth discover what being Asian-American uniquely means to them and foster bonds in the community. She recently graduated Brown University with a B.A. in Economics and Public Health, with a deep interest in health equity. During her undergrad, she was involved in social impact work connecting underserved populations with healthcare resources and providing afterschool enrichment programming to inner-city youth. In her free time, Angela likes to explore new restaurants and the city's art scene, play tennis, and try out new fitness classes.

Amy is a first-gen graduate from NYC who found her passion for community work through volunteering with CYI/CLP in high school. As an immigrant and the child of immigrants, she experienced firsthand the challenges of language and cultural barriers, which strengthened her connection to her roots and her desire to give back. Over the years, Amy has worked with several youth-focused groups, from supporting young children at CAPA to guiding underrepresented high schoolers through the college application process. She recently earned a B.A. in Psychology from Yale University, with a focus on early childhood education. In her free time, Amy enjoys cooking, taking long walks, and spoiling her cat, Cheddar.
Lucy was born and raised in NYC, and began her involvement with CYI as a high school volunteer for Chinatown Literacy Project (CLP). On the CYI Board, she serves as a member of the Programs Committee. Lucy graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Applied Economics & Management, and is currently an analyst in Morgan Stanley’s Wealth Management Division. In her free time, Lucy enjoys cooking, reading, and doing the NYT Crossword.

Wren (she/her) recently graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University, where she majored in Asian Studies and Anthropology. She is passionate about youth empowerment, particularly within Asian American communities, and is committed to creating opportunities for underrepresented voices. She has been involved with Chinatown Youth Initiatives since 2022, when she began working with the Summer Leadership Institute. Wren currently works in the office of U.S. Representative Dan Goldman, where she assists constituents of New York congressional district 10 with federal issues. In her free time, Wren enjoys photography, ballet, hiking, and playing with her dog Watson.

Jeremy Tsai

Jeremy is a consultant at Bain & Company. He is passionate about Asian-American rights and visibility and is particularly interested in educational equity. Jeremy was a 2021 Fulbright Scholar, where he taught English at ROC van Amsterdam. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University with a B.A. in History and Literature. In his free time, he enjoys backpacking, writing creative fiction, and long walks in Central Park.

Hazem Ibrahim

Hazem is a Posse scholar who has held various leadership roles in programs dedicated to underserved communities. During his undergraduate studies, he served as a SummerStart Residential Advisor and taught financial literacy to inner-city youth. Currently, he works as a consultant in the banking and financial service industry and is excited to leverage his experience to create positive, lasting impacts for CYI. Hazem holds a B.S. in Finance, Accounting, and Economics from Syracuse University and is based in NYC. Although he spent only one semester in Hong Kong, he can often be found in Chinatown trying to convince his buddies he’s a dumpling expert. Equally likely, he can be spotted running along either river in Manhattan.

Spencer is a recent graduate from New York University, where he double majored in Finance & Data Science and minored in Spanish. At NYU, he led 5 different AAPI organizations and organized 100+ unique events, conferences, and cultural graduations featuring major celebrities, speakers, and vendors from all over the world. He has been featured in the WSJ for his report covering venture capital compensation and he is an investment banking analyst at Barclays in the Industrials group. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, Citi-Biking, various games, and performing/teaching Chinese Yo-Yo throughout the city.
COMMUNICATIONS & PUBLICATIONS COMMITTEE
Zoe is a first-gen college graduate and Questbridge Scholar who is eager to connect with NYC’s Asian-American community to create meaningful relationships with its members. She is passionate in preserving the history of Chinatown to highlight the AAPI experience and in advocating for BIPOC, low-income families who are struggling to cope with the ongoing changes in the area. She holds a B.A. in International Studies and Political Science from Trinity College (CT) and is currently a legal assistant at a corporate law firm. In her free time, Zoe enjoys attending concerts, going on food tours, and watching movies.
